BUSTED: Finally Caught our Raccoon

BUSTED: Finally Caught our Raccoonfeatured

We spent four nights trying to catch our racoon. The raccoon visited the chicken pasture each night to eat any scratch grains that were left behind.

Last night we finally caught him! It was a rainy night and I moved the humane traps to areas underneath overhangs. I examined both traps this morning. You will see the first trap below. I found the trap sprung with the bait missing. The raccoon was able to get the apples and cantaloupe we set as bait and somehow escape the trap.

In the second trap, our friend wasn’t as lucky. I re-homed the vermin several miles up the road.

We posted an article earlier this week about how to use humane traps to catch chicken predators.

State's Evidence A: An empty trap with the bait missing. The raccoon was able to escape this trap.
